can someone put up pictures of the International Tijuana Taxi chassis? I have a body, and picked up a different car that i think may be the correct chassis, but not sure. thanks in advance!

Look at the bottom of the frame where the motor sets. The universal carded chassis has a slot on each side that allows the motor carrier to slide so you can change gear ratios. There are no other openings in the rear of the frame. The correct chassis has "X" slots between the two long slots for the motor carrier. The carded chassis is about 1/4 inch narrower and does not fit the Taxi correctly unless you have a spacer at each side of the frame.
I think the correct Taxi frame is the same as the Piranha frame. I've seen two variations of the slots under the motor for the correct frame. These are the only pictures I have. I used to have a picture of a 3rd style frame and it had the correct width for the Taxi, also.

thanks Matt. So is this a chassis that is available or is it elusive? Time for me to complete my car!

Correct frame is elusive and usually it goes for a lot of money. It was only available under the Taxi and Piranha. While nobody knows what the production numbers were of those cars, all agree it was really low. Best bet is to just set your car up with the carded frame using a spacer on each side of the frame.
Do you think you actually have an original body? Could it be a repo body with a resin driver head? I made driver heads and body stickers 20 years ago or so and sent a few of them to guys around the US. I made the driver head and hat one piece. The originals used a glue on hat, it was not part of the head.

Glenn,
Look no further than your club member. I will bring this car Thursday. I can take it apart and show more stuff but it is tough to take the body off. International Chassis, Kemtron Pancake Motor. Mille Miglia 8-hole wheels. 3 out of 4 two-prong knock-offs. Not sure of the tires but your special sauce will bring them to life. Dubro Green Factory Painted Ford Body. Card Interior with driver's head. Cox guide flag and braid. It runs fine but could use some TLC since I've had it for about 8 years.
Yours for trade for T-jets or cashola crayola megola. PM me if you like.

That is the universal carded chassis, which will work with the addition of spacers on the upturned side rails of the frame. The original came with either Classic or Revell 35D motors. All of them I've seen were Classic powered. They used a Riggen "Olive Haulers" rear sponge tires, kind of light green sponge. The fronts were plain small aluminum wheels 7/8 with an axle nut on the outside of the wheel.
