Retro slot car on my chassis dyno with a bad ball bearing.

You can see the wheel and tire deforming.

This chassis dyno was built for me by AJ Hoyt.

I'm coming out with a Ball Bearing Shield to eliminate destroying your ball bearing in a side impact. Should be available in a week or so.

This ball bearing was bad from the get go, however, spinning the axle with your fingers in the set up you could not tell. It seemed to turn just fine.

The car simply would not hook up any where on the track. It took me to this point to decide that a new ball bearing was bad. You could tell if you put  the axle in just the one bearing and turned it slowly by hand with the axle at about a 20 degree angle. Then you could feel that one of the balls was clearly deformed. Too small? Too big? Or just out of round?

Interesting discovery, Nelson. I'm guessing that is a plastic wheel. I wonder if magnesium would distort like that? A long time ago I bought one of those little hand held microscopes at radio shack, to inspect parts . Had to quit using it. Makes everything look defective! LOL  Take care buddy.

It won’t be deforming

It would be much easier it you could at least hold the camera still

I notice that the wheel and tyre seems to be behaving weird but the tip of the axle visible seems ok.

I think it is a defective rim
