I have some old  TYCO PRO cars laying around . There are a few bodies but mostly chassis and most of them needing guide flags ane pickup shoes . There are 3 complete with the button type pickups that run .

Knowing that these cars played a part in the "Brass Wars", I'd like to put together a couple as they were built at that time .  I can only imagine these cars were modified somewhat and not raced in there stock form . Any help with modifications or parts availability would be appreciated .

For immediate attention I need guide flags and pickups or ways to make or modify the chassis for other concepts for guiding and power . There seems to be different motors involved here as well unless someone has replaced them before .

What was used for rear axle assemblies , gears , wheels , tires and such ? I'm only assuming the plastic rear cradle would stay intact .

Also, what was used for the front axle and wheels ? The flimsy plastic front wheel axle mounts and even the wheels doesn't look substantial for a clean build .

I would really like to see these cars perform via that time period .

Thx , Tom

Hi Tom, There's plenty of TycoPro parts available on eBay. You'll be able to find almost anything except for NOS HT-50 motors and the original front tires. Jag Hobbies also has reproduction TycoPro wipers.

I've built a few "brass wars" type TycoPros where I've replaced the original pan with a hand cut brass pan that uses a pin guide rather than the plastic guide flag. A few manufacturers (Mura and Aj's) made similar pans back in the day. If you have access to old issues of Car Model, there's a nice article called "Taming the TycoPro" which shows how to build a "brass wars" type car.

Funny you should bring up Tyco Pro.  If you are in need of parts, Joe at NJ Nostalgia Hobby has white silicone tires that fit the bill, and may or may not have other parts you need.

You can also get in touch with Mario at M and M hobbies (google it) as far as other needed parts.

Both gentlemen are a pleasure to deal with and I am a blessed man to have them both within less than an hour from my house.

Build on! :)

Thank all of you for you excellent replies . I gained info from each and every one of your replies .

Mike , you helped me with another post as to racing on 2 lane tracks . Are you into TYCO PRO as swell ?

bbr , Your posting the vintage Car Model article . I have enough parts that I'm going to shoot for one of these builds as well .

I'm still open to more TYCO PRO ideas .

Thx again , Gonzo

Thx Paul for the reply . I'm not looking for anymore TYCO PRO's at this time . I'm just working up the parts I have now into decent runners and a couple to experiment with .
