Eight slot heads showed up to race Jalopy and NasTruck at STR on 12/9/19. Track conditions were quite good and racing was close as usual. It seemed to me that there were more wrecks than usual as evidenced by the image below(only kidding).
NasTruck
The NasTruck race provided some pre-race drama. Joes truck was chattering badly in the corners leading to poor handling. Joe swapped out all of the running gear to another chassis and voila, the car ran perfectly. That was too bad for the rest of the field
In the NasTruck contest, Joe, Bob and Rich battled it out for supremacy. Going into the final heat, both Joe and Rich were in the barn with 83.4 and 82.5 laps respectively. Bob needed 21.5+ laps to overtake Rcih while Joe was out of reach. Bob ran a very good heat on the white lane (his favorite) to edge out Rich for second place.
Jalopy
The top five competitors (Joe, Bob, Mark, Rich and Ron) were very closely matched in terms of fast lap times. Joe again came out on top finishing with 85.3 laps and Bob finished second about a lap and a half down.
Meanwhile Rich and Mark battled it out for the bottom step of the podium. Going into the final heat, Mark was about a half lap ahead of Rich. As the heat progressed, Rich was closing the gap. Mark made an unforced error and Rich flew by. Then Rich made an error and Mark passed Rich. That is the way it ended with Mark finishing third and Rich fourth.
