Only five participants showed up for a Triathlon at Electron Raceway on 12/16/19. Last minute car problems and illness limited the field. Even so, track conditions were good and racing was fun. This weeks event included LeMans Trials, Mixed race and GT1. With only one marshal, track calls were initiated anytime wrecks were outside of the marshals reach. As you might imagine, under these circumstances, no new track records were set

LeMans Trials

Rich and James were the only two drivers who attempted to better there fast lap times. Rich went first, running his True Scale GT40 and managed to run 4.819 an improvement of nearly .10 seconds. James ran his OSCAR based GT40 but was unable to beat his prior fast lap time of 4.681 seconds. The final LeMans Trials will be held at Electron Raceway in January 2020. Trophies will be awarded

Mixed Race

Rich had a brain fade and forgot to snap an image of the fast lap times. As a result, these are estimated.

Bob led the race from wire to wire winning with 93.2 laps. Meanwhile Rich and James battled for second place. Going into the final heat Rich had a half lap lead on James. Both were careful not to make an unforced error. In the end, Rich finished second with 91.6 laps while James was third with 90.8 laps

GT1

This field was quite evenly matched with the top four drivers posting fast lap times of between 4.751 seconds (Bob) to 4.824 seconds (Rich). From the start it was obvious that racing would be very tight.

The first heat featured three of the top four seeds; Bob, Rich and James. All three finished with nearly 23 laps and within only a few feet of each other. James rotated out after heat #1 and Joe rotated in. Unfortunately, Joe had a poor heat of only 18.4 laps putting him out of contention for the top spot. Even so, Joe clawed his way back.

Going into the final heat Rich was in the lead with 71.4 laps. Bob was close behind with 70.8 laps and James was about a half lap behind Bob with 70.1 laps. Joe was only a lap down behind James. The final heat was rather uneventful. In fact, I do not remember an off. Nobody improved their positions so it was Rich, Bob, James and Joe for first through fourth respectively.

Fun Race

With only five racers and only two participating in the LeMans Trials, we finished up quite early. Rich suggested that we have a fun race. Bob drove a loaner OSCAR based Ferrari Modena. Joe ran an OSCAR based Lola T70. Mike ran his Camaro. Rich and James ran their GT40s. Racing was close but in the end it was James, Bob, Rich and Joe for first through fourth
