The week before Christmas, Chicagoland racer Andy Fisher presented me with a cool present. A Du-Bro Austin Mini-Cooper body.

Back in my foolish youth I tried to mount one of these on a 1/32 chassis, but ended up with the wheels hanging outside the body. Not legal at my local track. I can't remember what chassis that was, but I decided I needed to re-create the look and cobbled together a brass and wire chassis. It has the same general appearance as that car from those wonderful years, as far as I can remember.

Thanks, Andy. You put a smile on the face of a goofy old man. Hope your Christmas was as much fun.

Ran it last night on the king track. It was surprisingly fast, could almost keep up with a hardbody car. But not quite. I suspect in a race it would have

finished ten laps behind the last place car.

Don't they call that an "oxymoron"?

And how can you finish ten laps behind yourself?  :tease:

It was really awesome to see how fast and stable your Mini-Cooper build was on The King at Mike's, Dave!

Drove home thinking about what it would be like to see a group of them doing laps on the Fiedler Flat!

Great car, Dave, and thanks for letting me drive it. With you driving it you were easily beating my illegal '40 Ford hobby stock car.

Thanks, Rick. New class, maybe?

Mark; Surprising how good it ran. Pure luck, I would say.
