What are the tire rules for 27L and TMO? I know we are using the .650 spec hub for hillbilly are they allowed for these classes as well?

Is this chassis legal for the Phoenix Open and has anyone tried it out?

So once started as a $100 class has become unlimited spending?  I fear the death of another class of racing!! :(

As some have found you can use 1 chassis in more than 1 class and this 1 as most of all the F to HBB chassis can and this class was never really a $100 class just like Retro isn't cheap  100 was when we ran the stuff that we all had laying around you what 1 still have a bunch still fast but not NEW and people love NEW it's been over 6 yrs that the cars in the counter cost 100 maybe more BT was making them then with old new stock the had back then but the class lives on

Don't know how long the phx motor lasts, but when guys were looking for a fast one every race... I kinda lost interest in running the class. So another $$$ investment in a class that started out being cheap.

The point is Jason, the $100 wing cars actually got wing racers and NEW wing racers started because it was a LIMITED expense class with LOT"S of SPEC chassis tires motors etc.  Now as slot racers NEVER LEARN---it's become another UNLIMITED SPENDING class!!! And it will die another miserable death because of it!! It's too bad really, theres' PLENTY of faster wing cars, but now it's back to the deep pockets to compete in a sealed motor class.  Sad really.

When was the last time you raced Wings 2 or 3 years ago at the WS maybe longer it's slotcars and slotcar racers they are always looking to go faster no matter how small there pockets are and like I said to only started at 100 because we were using old parts that we all had laying around that's why it was cheap because you got to reuse what you already had the only people that were paying 100$$ for a car were the people that had never raced before and quite a few of them raced a few months and were off in the wind only the ones that have been racing for a while stayed if you were to come down and play you would see that 90%+ are racers that used to racer years ago when BPR was the place to go for wing racing

jason

Unlimited spending ins't that what RETRO Racing is just saying or for that matter Slot racing as a whole

PS the real GRP F is still one of the cheapest class in racing .........

$100 5 years ago is how much now? Cost go up! There are still limits on spec tires and I think its a 1 motor class. So still a very affordable class. As far as motor hunting well since using the Phoenix motor, Ive just shown up race day, buy one motor and break it in on the track. I won November and December races and set track record for most laps using this motor.

That's great James--sounds like a good setup still is meaningful.  It's not about ME Jason--I'm just happy wing racing has seen a resurgence, and I think the cheap wing racing is what helped accomplish that.  Don't see the point in attacking another form of racing to attempt to make a point. ALL slot racing should be supported and hopefully get healthier and grow our participants!! Retro has clearly shown that keeping costs in line has helped grow ANY form of racing.  Just saying--try not to allow deep pockets to make such a significant difference, in perception OR reality.  Great to see the Western States back racing!

I'm not trying to attacking any form of racing I love it all and dip my fingers in most of it in some way I was pointing out that we need to be real it's not cheap to race now to come to the track every now and than and run a car around maybe but Race it's Not CHEAP and that needs to be told to people upfront don't lead them on be honest with them

James, you and guys like Sam makes it look easy.

Lotsa of experience to go with the talent. You show up every 6 months and do your share of winning, LOL.

I do it too, but in H.O. racing, lotsa experiences to go with my questionable talent.

But I find the Phx motor not a good fit for GrF, sometimes a hand grenade sometimes a missile. And way too much torque, so you need to know a lot about aero tuning to get around the track, ugh…experience.

Just saying (Bill) if you want more attendance for wing races, you can’t make the bar too high (you are seeing this happen in retro racing too). Running GrF was fine with RH motors, but some guys wanted to go faster… I like the B52 BB motor, have been playing with it in a Can Am car with good results, going to play with it in a GrF.
