Nine slot-heads showed up to race Super Stock and Vintage Econo at STR on 1/20/20. Track conditions were good and racing was very close especially in the Vintage Econo class.

Vintage Econo

Any of the top six racers had a shot at a podium finish. Fast lap times for these six ranged from 5.295 seconds (Joe) to 5.432 seconds (Rich). In the end, it was Mark, James and Rich for first through third respectively

Super Stock

Bob drove the most consistent race (97.04%) to win the race with 90.2 laps. This was the third highest lap total in recorded history for Super Stock at Spare Time Raceway.

James and Joe battled for the remaining spots on the podium. James edged out Joe by only three sections for the second spot while Joe finished third

Mark, Rich and Ron battled for fourth place honors. All finished with 85+ laps. Mark was fourth with 85.6. Rich was fifth with 85.3 while Ron was sixth only a few feet behind Rich.

Rich, I don't remember, but does the Vintage Econo class run the simple brass inline econo chassis that Bob Hanna designed 10 or 12 years ago?

Bill,
That is correct. The Econo chassis is used for Vintage Econo, Econo and NasTruck. Since everyone is using the same "spec" chassis on a tight track, racing is very close.

Thanks Rich, my memory is better than I thought.  :)  I like Ron's '49 Ford.
