Initially the 1/24 scale Monogram slot racing kits of the  '34 Ford Coupé, '36 Ford Coupé, '55 Chevy Hardtop, '58 T-Bird, '40 Ford Pickup, Duesenberg and Mercedes-Benz 540K came with an X-100 motor later replaced by the more powerful X-200 motor.

My question is this; did those X-100 kits have the SR1602 chassis and the X-200 ones the SR1604?

I guess the Mercedes and Duesenberg were too big for the SR1602.

Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thanks for any reply.

According to my file copy 1966-67 catalog:

SR-1602 1/24 chassis for inline X-100

SR-1604 1/24 chassis for inline X-200

both lists indicate that they are not long enough for the SR-2401 to 2407 big cars.

Another page just shows an X-200 inline  "B" frame with three round holes in the front plate and no drop arm for those cars.  No SR-# for the "B" frame as a replacement.

The early 16d- x100 frame is the SR1651, which is the same frame as the SR1601 except  the SR1601 is complete with wheels and tires complete except motor. The chassis for the 36d x200 kits was never sold seperately. The rear end of these chassis  SR1653 was used, but the front section is in reality,  from the 1651 chassis but remachined to fit the kit, it is also slightly rebent to make it more narrow. There are  2 or 3 different lengths. ,

Here they are, the short one was only supplied in the complete slot car kit, in this case not the Duesey. If you notice the short one is made out of the long one.
