I just want to share with you, of a slightly new form of racing that we currently are using with great success in our club.
With the latest version of LapMaster, a new "Team race" mode was added. However this is team racing with a twist.
We are actual racing an individual race, and a team race at the same time.
Each driver uses his own car and races for the straight-out individual win, just like a traditional race.
But at the same time, the racers that are assigned to be a group, also count towards a cummulative team count.
Usual we pair strongest driver with least strong driver, then the next two, etc., or sometimes we just set random teams.
Usual we use two- or three-man teams.
Racing like this has made it a lot more interesting because:
  • Each race usual produce three winners: the individual winner, and the two winners of the team race. (And usually, the middle team can be a winner = shared success)
  • The better racer is motivated to help out his less capable team driver in order to get the best possible team result.
  • The lesser racer has to man-up in order not to completly sink the team.
  • When you marshal, you have a much higher interest in the race, since your teammate is propably racing.
  • The LapMaster team mode let's you follow both the individual and the team race in real time.
At least in our club, people are very happy racing this new mode.

The idea was given to me from one of the LapMaster users, "Claus." Thank you for suggesting this great idea.
