Setup my new handle.
Easy to do.
Feels good in my hand and more solid.

I got a chance to see Jim’s new handle and longer trigger. Excellent. I’m definitely going to upgrade as I drive with 2 fingers and the new long trigger fits perfectly.

Shiggy, good job on cutting out the horizontal fin on the front handle for access to the wiper bands. This is what I intended when I did the design. Cutting out one or two fins and leaving the fin closest to the PCB will make it easy to quickly clean and lubricate the bands without removing the handle.

On models without a traction rheostat the only handle trimming that may be needed, on Difalco controllers, is a small notch in the fin to clear the resistor in holes "D" and "H". Using a small round fluted Dremel bit will make a nice semi circle to clear this resistor.

Jim, will these handles fit "drop in" style with a DR30 controller? Totally stock. Thanks.

Thanks, Jim. Followed your previous instructions.
I just cut out the lower fin. Plenty of room to clean the wiper bands.

The internal ribs/interlocking tabs make for a sturdy solid handle. Love it.

Tom, no such thing as a "drop in" style with my handles. I have never liked controllers that depend on sandwiching the frame between the handles. Since the DR controller is made for a Parma handle it should have no problem in my handles. I have an old DR controller here somewhere and I will check the fit for you and let you know.

Tom, yes, the DR controller frames will work in my handles.

First remove the large washer super glued to the DR frame. Trim my rear handle to clear the circuit board as it exits the top of my handle (I notched the frame). Grind flat 2 of my lower alignment tabs on the rear handle. Since the handles have other tabs this will not affect their rigidity.

Then grind the rear edge of the circuit board shown at the arrows. Once the frame lays flat on my upper and lower mounting bosses (screw posts) you are done. Then you just add my flat washers and standoffs over the top two mounting holes. Trim the front handle if necessary.

It would be best to try the fit on a current production DR Racing circuit board instead of one that is twenty years old.

Aside from moving the location of the resistors from the side of the frame to behind the wiper bands I doubt Dan changed the outline much on his frame. It still needed to hug the inside of the Parma handle so a 20 year old DR is fine.
