Eleven slot-heads showed up to race Trans-Am and Sports Car at STR on 2/24/20. Track conditions were excellent for these cars and racing was fun and furious.

Trans-Am

Mark had a brain fade and did not bring the proper equipment. Bob was kind enough to lend Mark the notorious “Pink Panther” (Bob won countless races with that ride). Mark did not disappoint! Scott Carroll chose to run his True Scale Firebird and Mike ran his True Scale Camaro. All other cars were OSCAR based rides.

The top six competitors were very evenly matched turning fast lap times of from 5.119 seconds (James) to 5.270 seconds (Bob). Joe ran a fine race and quite consistent to boot. That and the fact that his car was the quickest of the bunch led to a win. Even though James was the quickest of the bunch, Mark managed to edge out James with a more consistent run.

Sports Car

Scott fielded a brand new Shelby Series 1 and it did look great. Mark ran his True Scale Ferrari 458 and Ken ran his True Scale Mustang. All other rides were OSCAR based.

Rich, Bob and James were the only competitors running fast laps in the 5.0 second range setting up a real battle for podium spots. Going into the final heat, Rich was in the lead by nearly a lap over Bob, while James was nearly a couple of laps behind Rich. Bob was unable to close on Rich, so, in the end it was Rich and Bob for first and second. James ran a fine final heat turning 23 laps but not enough to overtake either of the top two.
