I have a couple older Difalco controllers and would like to make a mount to hang the heatsink off the edge of the track like I have seen on other controllers. I was just curious what hardware people were using to make one up.

Thanks,

The late Chris McKee had the coolest one ever:

Take a plastic clip board and use a jig saw to to cut most of the lower potion away leaving the clip and supporting plastic.

Mount the heat sink to the back of the plastic board.

Now you can open the clip and attach it to the track rail. The clip faces away from you.

RGeo used to make 2 aluminium pieces that fastened to the heat sink and held a piece of steel rod that you bent over to capture the side rail, but I don’t see them anymore on his website. Anybody got a picture of those?

I use 2, 10/32 Bolts with nuts and Fender Washers to hang on the side of the track... Also put a small piece of lexan/plastic on the back to protect circuitry... Simple and inexpensive... 07288040cbe4c9a253449f1145478ff4.jpg1ac20f786d12cafd74254446d0e718d4.jpg

On my Ruddock, I drilled a 1/8" hole in one of the heatsink's fins & made a chain of 2 or 3 cable ties to hang it from one of the track's power posts.

Just machined up this hanger out of a block of aluminum for my Carsteen to replace the small extrusion that came on it. When I get more time Ill sand out the tool marks and buff it up.
