Thanks to the generosity and foresight of a small group of local racers, Wellington (and indeed New Zealand), is soon to get a brand new 8-lane flat track which will meet international standards.

The track was constructed in Latvia by Janis Nabokins, is 46.1 meters (151.2463 feet) in length and is made from a plywood substrate with a textured polyurethane finish that has been painted in a similar colour to our existing track.

Tim is right... Tricky indeed, but that is what keeps it interesting. I bet that multi-element turn after the bridge trips up a lot of people.  :shok:

It this a commercial enterprise or a club track?

While no one likes a grammar-Nazi, I am a significant figure Nazi, and 46.1 meters equals 151 feet.

151.2467 feet is equal to 46.10000 meters. Just sayin'.   :victory:

Great track for a 24-hour race.  :)

Haven't you answered your own question with your own answer, in relation to the track's length?

Here is the conversion chart I used:

Hey, Zip... I am a big fan of club tracks. Where I live they have a far greater life expectancy than commercial tracks.

off-topic:

As for your conversion table, it would only get half credit on a test question in the chemistry classes that I took at OSU. An answer can have no more degrees of precision than the least accurate measurement. Now if your track is exactly 46.1 meters, sure, use as many decimal places as you please. (Forgive me. I'm just a little obsessive.)

Anyway, congratulations on the new track. It looks like greats fun.  :good:

Janis has been a busy boy, he has also constructed and shipped to Speedzone NJ the flat track that will be used for the 2021 ISRA worlds.

Cheers

Lordy! That is one nice flat track! Sort of reminds me of the "Beast" that used to be at The Cave Raceway a couple years back. Congrats to the New Zealand racers for getting a great track.

Beautiful track - must be a sizable club to be able to afford and justify an eight lane track.

On that number, I have often thought that a useful track for a typical club would be 5 lanes.  This would offer the opportunity to run 1/32 cars in 5's and have a 3 lane 1/24 track.
