Good light is necessary for good work and the prevention of eyestrain. I recently went to Harbor Frreight's parking llot sale and bought 2 of the lights below... WOW... the idea was to brighten up my garage. The garage had 2 4' florescent light fixture from about 1972 and they became very dim and eventually wouldn't even light up. I have been looking for a low cost replacement until now. I probably won't be putting a lot of hours on them and haven't used them for 30 minutes since installation so I don't know how durable they are. BUT, WOOOW... they are BRIGHT and aren't that funky color florescents put out. It's like sunlight. They are extremely light in weight, come with a (too) short chain to hand them and take almost no power.

Costco has also had a similar unit at a comparable price. I replaced all 6-7 fluorescent lights in my garage a year or so ago. Really happy with the results.

2 years ago I put up 5 of these at the slot car track building to replace some old lights.  I've been very happy with them.  They have a double strip of LED's in each light.   Weigh almost nothing and 3-4 can be plugged in to each other.      I got some  2 inch long flat brackets at the hardware store and  pop riveted one to each end of the light and then used a some long drywall screws to get thru the drywall and into the rafters.  They weigh very little and I was able to hang them by myself.    I got them on sale for $20 each.   They also have single strip units which are good for close up  over a work table or bench where they can be close.  They do came with chain and "J" hooks if you want to hang them that way.

I just bought 4 of these to replace 2/4 tube-48" T12 fixtures in a 2.5 car garage. I installed 1 unit in each of the old hangers and the level of light is amazing! There are little harsh, but I can see into nooks and crannies that the T12s did light up.  I probably won't need to the other 2 for now, but will keep them for use elsewhere.

BTW: My local HF in Tyler, Texas told me that the coupon code posted was invalid, but the guy looked up another one to give me the discount. If your store doesn't offer that, ask them to do it and/or call for a manager.

These are great inexpensive lights. 50k hours, integrated LED so they will be throw-away when they expire. At my age though, the LED should outlive me!

Thanks for the tip!

I bought retrofit kits to go floro>LED last year. IIRC they were $20 per kit. E-Z to do the conversion- although I chose to use all new wire since the fixtures I was converting were probably 40+ years old.

They were made by a company called "Toggled" and came in two sizes (48 inch and 24 inch) and 4 (3000K 4000K 5000K and 6500K) temperature levels.

Here is the web page with their information video: https://www.toggled....structions.aspx

This has made a huge positive difference in our energy efficiency!

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.
