Picked this up on eBay, cleaned it gently with mild soap, and applied a coat of furniture polish. The fiberboard decks that fit into the slots were warped, so I will be replacing those soon. The decals are still in good shape, and the box smells of 1969 oils, wood, and electricity. :D

It is stamped " Metalastic Products Co. Sewell, New Jersey" and the owner's name, written using a DyMo Labelmaker, is "Keith Simon".

Like the Road Runner sticker. Shows the previous owner had good taste. :D

Pablo, what's the black inkstamp on the left hand side read? Maker's name and address? :)

It looks like the old tiger trap boxes. Not sure who made them. We used to turn them on the side, move the handle, and it made a cool box for one car and controller.

Pablo,

That is a nice one. Some of the best decals I've see.

Rob, I agree the 'RR' is cool. But that Hurst Line/Loc is a killer!!!

Funny, I raced in Connecticut back in the day, never heard of a shop in Meriden. I lived in Hartford, can't be more than 12-15 miles away. Looks like the advertising budgets in the old days were no different than today :)

A step back in time; the only thing missing is the 1 ohm MRC in the bottom left. :D

Notice the particle boards have been lightened with holes. :laugh2:

Is this how they park in Europe ?

Hi Pablo,

AHHH! Fantastic find! and refurbish...

Could it be possible this "box" was originally used for something other then slot cars when it was made? Hence, the reason Gill never heard of them?

For example: the company for which I work was cleaning out their metrology lab area and I was able to pick up on a couple of old microscope boxes that were converted into slot car carrying cases.

The large black box on the left and the small little light-colored box were both microscope boxes. Both with locking keys and nice dovetail construction.

It looks like a box I just made for a racer. Look under my "New Products" tab. whiteysslotcarboxes.com
