New MAR 431 Professional Pinion Press - $29.99.
 
Recessed stainless steel collar holds pinion straight and allows shaft to press beyond the end of the pinion. .281" recess holds up to a 16 tooth 64 pitch drag pinion or a 11 tooth 48 pitch pinion.

Very nice-looking piece of equipment, at a decent price. Isn’t a proper press fit more secure than soldering (assuming correct tolerances on shaft and gear)?

Most brass pinions for lower end (homeset and other) slot cars are bored for a press fit with higher power motors usually using solder-on pinions that are bored for a slip fit.
