I have mixed many water base brands with no ill effects. Including Faskolor, Createx, Wicked Colors, Auto air and Racer's Choice.

Start with your lighter color, if you are using the 2 OZ bottle you mentioned, use 1 OZ of the lighter. Then add the darker color 1 drop at a time. The dark color will overwhelm the lighter. if you went reverse you would need large amount of the lighter to make an impact on the darker.

I don't use water based, but am playing with it from time to time.

Use the 4012 as your reducer

Add 4030 if you get droplets and inconsistancies

I used water just to reduce. Some air brush cleaners have a soap or other cleansing product mixed with it. This can cause fish eyes or other adhesion problems. I have had brush cleaner ruin an entire 8 oz bottle of paint when trying to reduce it.    Reduce a little at a time.  A few drops (1/8 oz) reduce a long way. You can't make it thicker once it becomes too thin.

What air pressure are you set at?  Most water based paint work better at higher pressures than lacquers.

Did not Steve Keope post a tutorial on Slotblog years ago?  Airbrush 101?....

What Larry said. Increase your pressure to 50 psi. That's what I use, and very seldom do I feel the need to thin the paint.

As for cleaning, I just spray water through the brush until it sprays clear.
