So with time on my hands and needing a couple of Cox Lotus drivers and drivers for other Cox cars I decided to do the painting steps in groups to save brush cleaning etc.

Anybody else out there enjoy painting drivers?

The Helmet/heads still need a some details but they are almost done. Always tricky to get the goggle lens looking correct, anybody got any tricks?

Are you dressing those guys in the period correct Les Leston /Dunlop "fire resistant" driver overalls?  I'm not sure if Cox ever provided any of the, then very early production, Simpson Nomex suits.  Thanks!

Thanks Jeff, Paul and Mark, I am just making stuff up and trying to give it that mid 60s vibe. They do not replicate any specific driver. Just fantasy.

The Lotus driver in white with the blue stripe was painted already and I intended to scrape the paint off.   When I started to scrape the mold line off I got the blue stripe, so I just left it as I thought it looked good. A happy accident :)

Fantastic work.

My Floquil "flesh" was (finally) dried up, of course just when I needed it.

I just went with the Cox plastic color for the face.

Thanks Mark. Now, to get them all a ride.

Mike, when ever possible I mask off the Cox flesh color heads, its hard to beat that tone and sheen. You have to paint the blue and white molded heads. But I like the flesh ones the best.

Thanks Martin.

I have repopped what I believe to be the GT40 driver and perhaps the Lotus 40 driver.

That scar on the face of the left head has been remedied with a new mould.

That first driver above was from the two part set where the left and right side are glued together....the head/face/helmet is pretty horrible by todays standards in my opinion.

That back view showing the hollowing out is how they come, as I am sure you are aware.

Thanks for looking in again

John

Had some fun painting the Cox Dino interior with its "bitching tuck and roll" in red.

Always leaning with this stuff and only just realized that the driver Dunlop overalls opens from the  right side. AS seen with the driver on the right.

The driver on the left must be wearing some Italian brand overalls  :laugh2:

Outstanding Martin.    You have a real talent for detail, and a steady hand.
