When I was scrutinized to see if I was sane enough to be Catholic I was asked what historical figure would I like to speak with and what would I ask them?

I answered Erwin Schrodinger because like who would not want him to explain Schrodinger's equation to them?

My second choice would have been Paul Newman because I always wanted to ask him why he made Slap Shot?

The Hanson brothers absolutely classic. My grandson has an Ogie Ogalthorpe sweater. Is that Ogie? Yeah they let him out of prison to play in the final.

But the track in Pulp Fiction is one of mine.

There is a whole scene devoted to a slot car race in "The efficiency expert" with Anthony Hopkins. I think its about 8 minutes long.

Yep, that's the only one with slot racing as a main subject.

We've gone over slots in movies a number of times. They're mostly pretty bad in fact, and Slap Shot is one of the few decent movies with slots.

There are a couple of threads on the subject here, but probably the most complete listing is over on SlotForum:

Nope, not the Avengers Mark - a rather obscure English film called I'll Never Forget What's his Name...  But there was a sequence in The Avengers, and also in the series with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore...

Yes, and really the plot line of that episode.

I think Don's list missed the recent slot car scene filmed at Buzzy's, for The Americans.

Right guys.

Phil, I just added the American Dad to my list - couldn't remember the title of the series, so took a guess.

Yep Mike - I had heard about that, but haven't seen it and forgot in the meantime. I'm sure there's a few more series with short sequences, one way or the other.

Quite a few clips too, including one by Mariah Carrey from not too long ago, and ads as well - some surprisingly clever!

About 20 years ago, I managed to create a print ad for a major battery company with slot cars as the theme! To my surprise, both the agency and the customer accepted it... The account manager at the ad agency immediately responded by saying: I always wanted to play with my brother's Circuit 24, but he would never let me!"

Here's one for you , Don.(not for your list)

While channel surfing, between 2, 5, 7, 9 and 11, as a kid(1967-68), I came across the end of a slot car racing discussion show, on Channel 11.

IIRC, 3 or 4 guys, on chairs, holding up slot cars, and reviewing/giving their impression of them.

Something like Thursday night, 8:30-9:00 PM.

When I tuned in the following week, it wasn't on.

Pretty amazing Mike! Never saw that one of course... Maybe Stuart Schaller (from the Strombecker team) was involved? If he ever sees this...

I do remember one of the kids morning TV shows had a slot car contest. Must have seen that when I was home sick - or maybe it was in the afternoon, because it wasn't for toddlers. Think the host was James Stewart (no, not the actor).

How about RUSH.

Seems like I remember Hunt running a slot car in his living room.

This opened up so many movies and shows for me to search out, especially Don’s list. I thought of The Efficiency Expert first (a favorite movie), had forgotten about Slap Shot (which I think was a role Newman really enjoyed), and then the brief scene in Grand Prix.

But now I have to ask my now-25 year old American Dad fan why he never told me about that one - he went to the track once or twice with me, we had a Scalextric setup (briefly)... what the heck. Gotta watch it tonight. And The Americans.

Anyone have any idea who may have advised them on that American Dad episode?
