Hey Guys,

With all the craziness going on right now we are changing our plans up a bit. We are considering building our 1/4 mile track.

I'm curious if any of you have plans you drew up when you built yours, I'd like something to start with. We found a woodworker

who is willing to tackle the project, so details is what I'm looking for.

While I've researched a lot, I'm unable to find many threads that still have working links.

Please email me sduffey131@gmail.com if you have any helpful info that will help us fill in the details.

Thanks

Steph

1) Rip a 4 X 8 sheet of MDF into 4 equal pieces.  Do it 3 or 4 times to have the overall length you need.  Cut one of those strips into one ft sections for connecting lap boards. Assemble.

If you want this for competition use dont build it next to a wall , drag racers hate them. Free standing so can be walked down both sides will bring bigger crowd

To make the slots, use a table saw with a carbide tipped blade set at 5/16" height. Run the track pieces through upside down cut a slot on each side with the fence set however far away from the wall you want. Cut your relief after with a router with a relief cutting bit. Instructions on how to make a bit are in my thread How to build a slot car track.

We use to throw in a rough cut drag strip with most of the tracks we sold. We used to put a return lane in the middle too.
