Jae was a very competitive Buena Park racer since at least 2007 when I first raced with him on the original BP Hillclimb where we shared podium in an F1 race. Always engaging, funny and up on his racing skills. Jae will be missed!
Regards to his family during this time of mourning.
I've had this pic along with John Wakamatsu on my wall for years.

I had gotten wind of him fighting some sort of illness, but I had no idea it was that serious.
May Jay rest in peace.

Jae was a multiple Grammy-winning record producer in LA.
I met him at a recent RetroPalooza at Port Jeff. He grew up in NYC and we shared some memories of being "disciplined" by the nuns in Catholic schools in the 1950s-60s.
RIP, Hip Hop guy.

It was just a few weeks ago that Jay messaged me and asked if I wanted to share a room for the RetroPalooza (before it was postponed). Ever optimistic and full of energy... that's how I'll remember him. We've raced together in Buena Park, Seattle, and Tokyo, and on my home track in our Farrout club. Outside of racing we talked about everything under the sun. He was one very bright guy who was very helpful on and off the track. The pic below was our team in Tacoma, WA, Left Coast Racing, for the 24-Hour BRM Enduro in 2014. A sad day, indeed.

I thought that he was going to outlive us all. He had it going on, one of the cool guys.

He was so determined to go back to normal health that we talked about Kamo's new chassis for him to race at RetroPalooza in New York, scheduled then at the beginning of June.
At the beginning of March, he sounded well enough to plan to race there.
We have been exchanging messages about Kamo-built chassis for him to race at RetroPalooza.
The last conversation was on March 23, when I still believed he would get well and race with us.
Rest In peace and keep racing in heaven.

Very sad to see another of our racers pass on. Jae was always a 'larger than life' presence! He was always fun to race with in Hardbodies or Retro cars.
You will be missed! RIP, Jae.

He loved his Kamo Retro cars and his hardbody cars.
Truly a sad day for slot racing. I'll miss his humor and racing. RIP, Jay.

This is very sad news. Jay was one of my favorite friends in slot racing, I love him. I always looked forward to hanging out with him whenever possible. I loved his positive energy, playfulness, enthusiasm, and generosity.
RIP, Jay.

I'm going to change the title of this thread to 'Jay Henry,' as that was his real name, as shown by the signature he entered when he registered here with the display name "Grammy Winner' in March of 2008. Seems he used 'Jae Henri' mostly on Facebook.

I never met him but, following the race reports from BP, I always knew I wanted to.
RIP and show the racers in heaven how it is done!

Very sad news.
Most of us are at an age where we experience the gradual but unfortunately inevitable loss of good and longstanding friends. We wonder how we will ever replace them. We don't - but we keep their memories in our hearts and try to honour them in our actions.
Just to be clear about this I never met Jay - as I have never met virtually any of you apart from vicariously via Slotblog or Tokyo Retro or whatever Slot Racing site.
RIP my crazy slot racing friend.
