Some time ago, a friend gave me a blue GRC sptifire body.

With the body, there is the motor support, the guide support and the bearings, it is not much.

As I was tired of seeing it lying around in my workshop, I looked for parts to complete it, but it was not very easy.

Since I don't want to throw it away, I decided to mount it with other parts to make it a cool car than it was originally.

For the wheels, I prepared Lotus cox magnesium wheels, 1/24 NSR tires on the rear and 1/32 BRM tires on the front.

They have been sanded and varnished

Can't wait to see what you come up with on the Spitfire Régis!

The wheels look very nice already. (but I thought it was hard to sand NSR tires; I always had trouble)

Hello Don, I misspoke using google translation

I use a bead blaster filled with VERY FINE sand for the Cox  wheels.

It is indeed impossible to sand the NSR tires

Not really Régis - I jumped to conclusions, since you had just mentioned the tires. And sometimes we varnish the front tires (using nail polish) so they won't grab the track - that's why I thought you were talking about the tires instead of the wheels!

C'est compliqué la langue de Shakespeare, non?

Hello Regis,

Do you want original parts for the Spitfire?  I have some if you like.  Another friend has asked me to make windscreens and driver figures, and I will, but I do have extra chassis parts now.

I have some original parts too Regis, at least the axles and front wheels and maybe a few other things.

But I'm also curious to see what kind of chassis you invent for the Spitfire!

Thank you friends for your proposals, but the project is well advanced, and I will continue in my delirium.

I'm not going to make a Don chassis, I just want it to run on my circuit.

Regarding the soft plastic body, no question of painting it, it will not hold, I just sanded to remove scratches and burrs and then I polished with a cloth.

For the hoop, I machined an aluminum bar, and twisted it with my little fingers.

For the windshield, I decided to do it in brass, and to have a color that goes with the blue, I covered with a very thin aluminum sheet.

See you soon in Bordeaux

For the engine, since I didn't want to use a 16D, I mounted an Aristocraft engine.

It is less powerful, but as it is to roll on my track of 13 meters.

But to mount it in the plastic support, you have to remove a little plastic inside as well as outside.

To stay in the aluminum shade, I covered the grille with aluminum adhesive tape, it will be less sad.

Here we are, the modification of the GRC is finished,

it is now less sad than before.

I replaced the metal crown with a plastic one and it made less noise.

It is not a fighter, but it rides very well on a small circuit.

I still have to paint a strap to hold the pilot's helmet to prevent him from losing it.

It's just missing a beautiful painting, but it's not possible

Looks very nice Régis, and it doesn't have to be painted: blue is a rare color for these cars (about 90% are yellow), so it already stands out!

For the helmet strap, GRC provided a thin piece of rubber, so if you could find something like that lying around your workshop, it would be authentic - and avoid having to paint it!

The wheels look great!
