Looking to build a 1/32 Womp drag car.

What is a good frame to start with?

Thanks!

Any steel or brass Womp style frame. I added a short wheelie bar to one and replaced the 16D armature with a Grp 20. Drives like an altered short wheelbase should - a little wild.

I recommend the LVJ narrow sprint adjustable wheel base version in brass!

Smith Scale speedway makes a longer front section which will stretch wheelbase another  3/4 inch.

Steel womp is slightly lighter than brass and the narrow sprints plus is lighter than any full pan frame of this type.  Nice thing about these is you can cut the frame off ahead of the motor mount and extend the nose as long as you want with piano wire or tubing.  In the late 1980's we made  early 1/24 hardbody frames this way before the FCR was designed.

Most of the drag kits can be made any length or width and be lighter than these frames.  Why waste a harder to find frame?

I tried drag racing a Womp. It was kind of a waste but to each his own. I did not modify the frame so it lives to carve corners when tracks reopen.

We have a class for that!...

I have seen some great Womp based modifieds and thought they could make nice Altereds or gassers.

Check the class list here!

Just a thought, would using a pin guide be a speed item on a drag car? Since the cars only run in a straight line, would the cars drive any differently?

A pin wouldn't work.

The car has to be able to break both the pre-stage, and stage beam, at the same time.

That's what starts the tree.
