Me too, Tony. I've also been spending my lock-down building slot cars. Been doing a little model railroad building as well. But starting
to get burned out on all that, so I have a fairly large scale plastic model P-38 that was gifted to me may years ago, so maybe I'll do that
for a while. Always wanted to do it with removable panels so the airframe can be seen. It is still modelling, but enough different to make
it unique from the other hobbies.
The way the five-phase plan is laid out in Illinois, it is unlikely any slot racing will be done this summer. But we are seeing a lot of push-back from the people, so I hope I'm wrong.

Cry like a baby, drive like a girl, walk like a man.
Give me enough rope and I'll build a fast car... or hang myself?

I have been doing the same thing. I have 21 so far, And will build one or two today. I bet I can do a chassis in the same time it took you to do all that engraving. LOL
You and yours stay safe.

I think you should send them all to ME for the initial testing!!! Then you'll KNOW if they can stand up to a beating and still WIN!! Very nice work!!

Wow, you guys have been busy.
I've had company sheltering in place for the last 5 weeks, so have had no chance to do any modeling; which is fine, as I've enjoyed the company. Plus, it was 81 degrees right on the beach yesterday!
Now that the "company" has gone (and I've re-assembled the house! ) I finally had a chance to take a closer look at the MPC Scarab I got a while back. It would run for a very short time (20-30 seconds) then slow and stall. I think the problem was that the thread-on wheels were tightening up against the spacers/frame and causing it to bind.
I changed out the original 2 1/4" axles for 2": I didn't like the way the rear wheels were sticking out well past the body, so I also took the rears (1/2" wide) off, put the fronts (1/4") on the rear axle and put some other narrower tires/wheels up front. I fussed with it for a while until I got everything "even" and working smoothly; then took everything apart again and gave it a proper cleaning and re-lube. Am pleased to report it now runs very nicely.
It was fun to do some model work again.
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
