I recently put the pictured controller on eBay but I haven't a clue as to how old or who manufactured it. Does anybody have any info on the piece?

That definitely looks like it. The logo obviously must of worn off over the years. Thanks Guys!

After the slot car "heyday" of the sixties, Auto World in Scranton, PA continued to sell these as their own, model "T-33" controller. 

 

The ones I acquired many years ago from them did not have the "BZ" logo.

That would explain the box pictured in the post that the controller was stored in. It has T-33 written on it. Thank you!
