I am thinking this body will be my next build project.

It looks like the rear wheels will be 1" and I am thinking a full side winder Hawk Retro motor. but I have questions about gears that would be appropriate. Any suggestions for  gear choice would be appreciated.

I know where I got the body but I have no idea who pulled it? It is 1/24

Parma made one about a billion years ago but I think this one looks too well proportioned to be it.

But, like I said, it was a long time ago.

That's not the old Parma, for sure.

It's super-cool, with the duck-bill spoiler.

It seems to me, to be some sort of a mash up of different Porsche elements.

Modern looking, but with a vintage hood and the duck-bill.

And the rear, side windows look more like a Cayman, than a 911.

I agree Mike it is some sort of Porsche creation.

On the extra below the rear bumper it has 944-1. No way it is a 944 so whats up with that.

Yes, an odd reference to a 944.

Does the front have round headlights ? (there is a weird reflection in the pic)

Do you know if it is Lexan® ?

The front does look a lot like some of the newer (2005ish) 911's but the rear side windows are all wrong and to the best of my knowledge the newer ones never used the duckbill style rear spoiler of the mid 70's 911's.  I think the too longish nose has something to do with the 944 reference.  A "mash up" Porsche for sure.

It has round headlights and without checking I would say .010 Lexan.

I would say early 1970's 911 RS. But like most vac-pulled bodies, there are some deviations. The "flares" don't belong.

Gears - if this was a heavy hardbody car like my Lola full sidewinder with Hawk Retro and almost 1" wheels, I'd say use what I used on it. BUT your car will be much lighter so it can pull more gear.

If it were my build I think along the following lines:

-3/32 axle

-64 pitch

-Straight steel ARP or Sonic pinion

-ARP or Weldun aluminum drag spur

-HR motors use 9/28 with .820 wheels in retro cars, which is a FDR of 3.79

-Find a spur that will give you 1/16 clearance with 1" OD wheels - about .875 or smaller - maybe a 52T - I'm guessing because I don't have one on hand

-Since a one inch wheel is the same as the gear ratio without tires, divide the teeth by 3.79, and use that as a pinion. Example, if a 52T is .875 or less OD, divide 52 by 3.79 = 13.72 teeth. You could use a 13 to be conservative.

14/53 would be exactly a match at 3.79

If anybody out there in drag land can mike a 50 or 53T alum 64P spur for me that would be super  :)

Thanks Pablo

My question is not so much about the gear ratio as it is about the diameter of the gears and the suitability of the aluminum drag gears for a track car. And to see if anyone had other suggestions seeing as I am going to need to order whatever I use.

My Lola has been in the winner's circle several times with alum drag spur/steel pinion combo and no failures. The Sonics are great also if you can find them. The biggest one I have here is a 46T and it mikes about .750".

With 1" wheels you have the option of 1/8 axle and 48P gears also. I have plenty of big Cox 48P spurs I can mike for you if you want to go the vintage route with a Chinese toothbrush motor. It's been done before, it works well.  :) The HR has the beans for it no problem.

Neat body you've got there Eddie. It reminds me of a True Scale Ferrari body I used in a build. That Porsche has the look and size of it....at least to me. Don't know if Victor ever made a Porsche like that though.

Alan Draht has this car now:

I used TSRF wheels, tires and inserts. The big spur gear is modern but I forget the maker.  Somebody here should recognize it. Any C-can motor would work too:

The gear looks like a Slick 7 to me but I have not found one in stock at this point.

Great looking car by the way.

Looks like the same body Courtney. They say 1/32 but the WB on the one I have is 3 7/8 and it is 3 1/8 wide.

Maybe I'm wrong about that not being a Parma body.

I guess maybe I've never seen one clear.
