FYI: If anyone is looking for a decent small job rock tumbler, here's a link to a surplus supply joint I shop at when I visit family in Milwaukee, WI. Their main outlet is, ironically, on Milwaukee Ave in Chicago.

This set is small, but the dimensions fit a Retro F1 or Stock chassis. 6 x 6 x 7.5 tall. $109.50 plus S&H. Lots of other stuff a slot race might be able to use, too.

What is used to tumble chassis and so forth? I have one of the tumblers but I have heard various things about what to use for brass chassis, steel chassis, and so forth. What type of material is used with the chassis and so forth?

Thanks...

That's what I use in my tumbler. So far, I've tumbled steel, brass, brass and steel, and aluminum chassis with no issues. I have not tried magnesium yet.

Thank you...  I see it is liquid and that is better ,  It washes off I take it.

As with everything, dont use too much....  regards,

I recently switched from the Thumler 14 model B to an Extreme Rebel 17lb. unit. It is quieter and has a more robust rotational shaft assembly. Really happy with it. I use the tumbling media from Buffalo Arms and Meguiars wash & wax. The wash & wax exceeds BA's liquid finish and provides protection against post tumbling rust.

Wow, your tumbler has pillow block bearings. That's nicely built. :good:
