This 1/32 F1 car has been on eBay for over two(2) years. During that time it's been priced anywhere from $90 to $160. Currently it's priced ar $129.99. The seller is a former trackowner in the southwest, so he should know it's actual worth.

What I find humorous is, I thought I recognized it from the paint when I first saw it. One of my NH friends verified it is a car he built in the early 2000's to run in our local 1/32 series. It has a Betta body, scratchbuilt chassis, & early Falcon motor. This was my friend's personal race car. He did not sell it, yet has no idea how it got to New Mexico, where it now sits.  :laugh2:

Good spot.

I heard a rumor Dick lost all his fingernails, scratching his head, wondering, why there isn't a cash payout in Retro racing.

It is late Cuc, long chassis, Nylatron bushings. (I think that's it).

What do I know... That was only 50 years ago or so.

Yeah, and that guy said he bought it new.    Somebody switched the body on him and he didn't even know it!   He still thinks that vac body is poly.   Maybe he doesn't know **** about slot cars.

Today you can buy 25 pair of Ulrich wheels for $1600!   You gotta move fast, before it's gone.  We all need a closet full of wheels!

Good spot.

I heard a rumor Dick lost all his fingernails, scratching his head, wondering, why there isn't a cash payout in Retro racing.

I've been wondering what Dick has been doing with all his spare time, since flexi racing in New England has been dead for 5 or 6 years. Dick never got into retro racing. He said, "there's no money to be made in it."  Dick is younger than me, I first met him when he was still in high school, but haven't seen him since the last local track closed in 2010. John Weaver, much younger than both of us, is probably the most competitive current slot car racer in New England.

I've been following the results of Modelville's Tuesday night retro racing for over 8 or 10 years. This program was started by John Reimels when he & his son were both racing 1/24 cars. When he shows up, John Weaver usually wins. That was like Dom did with flexi racing at QCS & Need for Speed. If he didn't break, which wasn't often, he usually won.

Although I may have met Dick P in the mid-seventies when I was racing open/ group 7, my interactions were with him were in the 1990’s. For better or worse Dick approached slot racing as a business and when viewed in that way the phrase “there's no money to be made in it” makes a lot of sense. I remember Dick racing International 15, Boxstock / Group 12, and Flexy; and in every instance I could see the racing as advertising or development for the materials he was selling.

I would imagine his current “spare time” is spent in some other form of second income business.

I always tell the story where when I walked into the raceway, on a Friday, in Tuckerton, N.J., for the Hasse Nilison Anniversary Race, and stepped into the adjacent room, where the other, non-King track was, and Dick P. was giving seven, 12 year olds, the beating of their lives, in the Womp Womp race.

I may of embellished the story slightly, as a younger, but not 12 year old, Matt Bruce, says he was one of the "victims". LOL

Dick did have a way of finding the gray in black and white.

Though I do remember a race with hand out motors which were "broken in" by the raceway. They had a "special" motor set aside for Dick.

It's  back.   It's the Green Hornet Black abeauty with a non factory body.   Painted vent posts are too obvious.   Only $3000 this time.

But he's not claiming the Taxi is an original, and started at a reasonable price.

The Green Hornet, on the other hand... I've had a few exchanges with that seller, and he's always very defensive about saying that he doesn't make any false claims - so he knows perfectly well what he's doing. In this case, the body description is more than ambiguous.

I've got one of those bodies somewhere, and an original chassis...Let's see, if I undercut him at $2,999....

Here's an interesting one the guy has been trying to flog for a year or so:

https://www.ebay.com...353.m1438.l2649

It actually is an interesting model, looks kind of like an early rail racing experiment, but with absolutely no documentation, information or provenance, £375 is a bit steep...

This is one that I shake my head at, each time I see it.

Seems like it's been on continuously for 12mths or more.

Does anyone see any value in it?

Starting bid: US$9.99
