OK... pics, price, description?

I expected that to go away. Too bad, I hate to see any slot track fold.

For those that are not located in Florida, is this the raceway?

Yep. He put a for sale sign on the door last week I'm told. Track needs braid and previous owner used nails to hold the braid down in the corners.

I suspect with the "Zombie Apocalypse" shutdowns we'll be seeing more of this: retail is dying everywhere. This is a long-term trend even without the ZA lockdowns. I'd hate to be some commercial property landlord who is leveraged to the max right now.

Traveling to my sister's place I drive through some small towns and the main streets have so many vacancies where there were stores last year. These towns are in the prime locations for fishing, hiking, vacations, off-road and more, and it is now in the prime season for those activities. If those places couldn't hold on for that then it's looking pretty bleak for those towns in a few months.

Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

I hope I'm wrong, very wrong.

Ouch... on the nail hold downs.

45 years ago, I was running open class wing cars on tracks that had the braid stapled down in the corners. It never was much of a problem. Most raceways would use a solder iron to reactivate the braid glue & roll the braid back down. This worked about 60% of the time, but not always.

In SoCal Circle-T's nickname was Staple-T. Their Orange track had more staples than braid for contact....

No use to use staples when a hot glue gun works fine.

The condition of the braid was one reason we did not try to run retro among others.

While it's unfortunate that it is no longer a commercial raceway, the track survived and may reappear another day.

Or someone who doesn't want the same sections of braid to come up a second time. :laugh2:

When Stu and I went to the USRA Nat's Warm-up race, in 1985, the owner fixed braids that were up, with a stapler.

It certainly was quick.

At an ISRA Worlds, they used straight pins (or possibly tiny brads) in at least one turn, on the tightest lane, to hold down the braid, because it refused to stay in place, with just glue.

Wow ... a 220' Engleman would take a pretty big space to setup.  Damn rent!

I see that there's going to be a major adjustment in rent/lease payments in the future. Nationwide.

When Johnny Banks and I opened Slot Car Raceway & Hobbies here in Jacksonville back in 2010, we took advantage of a still-floundering retail space situation following the 2008/2009 economy meltdown.  As a result, we got a pretty sweet deal on rent.  And we rode that deal for five years.

Unfortunately, the shopping center was sold in year 4 and the new owners wanted a significant increase in rent when we started talking about the renewal.  I get it ... the economy and demand for retail space had greatly improved by 2015.

Superglue and an aluminum roller is not horrible for quick repairs.
