Introducing our newest product. In stock, of course much lower cost than the competition with equal or higher quality. Only $3.5 for a set of 4 or $16.79 for 6 sets.

For new racers, myself being one, are these for hardbody mounts?

Thanks,

Scott

Sorry for the dumb question, but how are they mounted on a chassis?  Any photos a a set mounted?

The longer piece goes through a hole (slightly larger than the small portion) in the the outside vertical part of a side pan.  Then you put the small piece over that from the inside and solder it to the longer piece.  Depending on how large you make the hole in the pan and how snuggly you put the inner piece on will determine how much "float" your body will have.  These are generally referred to as floating body mounts.  They can of course just be soldered solid to the pan if you don't want them to float.  It might be possible to use these for hardbodies but the typical use is for lexan bodies.

Scott,
The below is a typical chassis they would be used in.

Thanks Mike,

It's a flexi chassi, but is it used to run hardbady and this a hardbody mounting system?

I don't have enough 21st century experience to see an advantage to floating a lexan body.

Scott, that chassis is too wide to fit most 1/24 & 1/25 hard bodies.  Most lexan bodies are wider. Think of hard bodies being around 3" wide, lexan bodies about 3 1/8" to 3 1/4".

Scott,

Not to say it could be implemented for a hardbody application, it's mostly for Lexan® bodies on Flexi style, stamped chassis.

Flexi chassis already have movement, so it's seems redundant, but I never raced this type car serious enough to see if it would make a difference.

These can also be used with chassis with non plated aluminum pans, to be able to use body pins, instead of clips.

Aha!

Mike,

The light bulb went off when I saw "body pins, instead of clips"...

Bill,

I've got a couple of Pro-Track hard body chassis and that's what partly confused me. Those are substantially narrower than my Ti22s!

Thanks for the detailed explanations.

Maybe when bodies were .010" thick or more; since most bodies are .007" & even .005" thick, a floating body mount would be overkill.

I do have a problem with DTM bodies; they have zero side flex & that kills the handling.

This works on flat track retro cars as well.  Nice simple design for flexi cars though-- pretty slick Tim-- I'll try a package when I can get them for my flexi cars.

I thought I would mention that some rules mandate .010" thick bodies so I assume that this would help.

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Although, they are produced by Red Fox, Kamo uses these floating mounts for his new Retro chassis.

Haruki: Are those soldered pieces in front of the pin holders for keeping the body from curling in on top of the chassis? Or?

It’s a stock car chassis. Keeps the body from hitting front tires in the corners.
