A lot of performance for the $$$, back in about '69-'70.

From the gears, chassis & motor, it appears to have seen little use. .The lead wires need to be rerouted & the left rear tire has a cut/chunked out, but neither affects the price.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

that's a really cool chassis- hinged pans, a solid front axle with maybe hard vinyl tires and a drop arm! i've never seen one of those before.
i used to love the 20's. i didn't realize that Group motors came out that early though. i don't remember our track having 'em until about '71.
that might have even been before side dams, so i bet it came out of the tight corners with the front end in the air! at least mine did.
those were the days, eh? all b4lls, no brains, as we used to say. man did we have fun. wish i had one. all the ones that i built and still have from that era are in pretty sad shape.

When that chassis first came out, in an RTR, it was available with an oval(?) hole 16D, for $9.95, or a Mura 2 hole can, G12, for $11.95 or maybe $12.95.
The arm most likely came out around 71.
I don't those front tires are what came with the car, in '69, either.

That chassis was a good one. A hot rod friend back in the day got a track for free just for removing it. We set it up in his basement, shortening the front and back straights to make it fit. We ordered most of our slot cars and equipment from an east-coast mail order house called Sal Marino. IIRC we payed $5.95 each for them. This would have been early 1971. Still have my car, with one of the Russkit motors in it we also got from that warehouse. And the original Porsche 908 body, that I busted up playing with the car at Dave Fiedler's Hot Slots track. I have replaced that with an original Dynamics Handling body I got from Dave.
Sal Marino sold a lot of general hobby items at incredibly low prices. Most of it was outdated or had passed it's peak sales period. Atlas came out with very scale 40 ton ore hoppers for model railroading. They were intended to run on Lionel track, and had trucks and wheels for that purpose. But Sal Marino was selling them 5 for $10, so I, and the 9 members of the O-scale Northern Illinois Society of Model Engineers each bought 10. Athern had just come out with their scale Delryn trucks, so we just changed trucks, added Kadee couplers, and had a 90 car ore train like those that ran from Minnesota to Chicago.

I wrote an article for Slot Cars Magazine about my very similar car which I raced in 1969-70. The chassis pictured here has been modified with a rear axle tube/brace and a can-side motor brace. If I'm correct, the NCC-20 arm would have been available in late 1969 or early 1970, since that's when the NCC started -- my car had one in the spring of 1970.
I, too, love this chassis and have a few of them. I recently purchased one on eBay that is all aluminum except for the drop arm. Would love to hear if anyone else has ever seen one of these.

You should post a pic.
Are you sure it is aluminum, instead of a brass one that is plated?
IOW, is it considerably lighter?
