My job is simply paint a pair of sweet Thingie bodies, matching the third one. Decals are en-route from Martin

All this root beer is making me thirsty. Mix on Pablo.
Did you save the formula from the Bandit project?
Posted 24 August 2020 - 08:50 PM
I may have saved some, but I'd rather mix a fresh batch

I meant did you you save the recipe not the paint, The formula or proportions of what made that color. The paint code.

Cooooooollllll.

Nice, Paul.

I like this mix.
I forgot to send you the 1/4'' blue tape I have. It is a bit lighter than stock. Is it too late?
Posted 26 August 2020 - 11:16 AM
Never too late to say you're sorry!! Of course, it might take a week or two for the mail.

No it's not too late, Martin. Nothing is ever rushed here at The Wolcott Ranch

Cool, thanks Martin. I do have "leftovers" from what you gifted me for the Bandit projects.
I don't know if they differ from the Renegade so I didn't turn them down when you offered them.
Nothing ever goes to waste here
I did a "test swatch" of your Bandit baby blue stripe on the Renegade flash, attached with Faux Glazing.
Just to make sure it will work, and as a "warm-up" for my skills
I'll let it dry and check it. But there isn't much doubt in my mind it will be perfect.

What is on the way is peel and stick vinyl 1/4'' wide.
The Bandit has an 1/8'' wide stripe.
I have more coming ( a different light blue, that I just purchased) when It arrives I will send some of that also if it looks closer to factory?
They are both 1/4'' wide peel and stick vinyl.

Thanks Martin - you are THE MAN
Paul Wolcott
Posted 29 August 2020 - 08:44 PM
Well the new tape showed up today. What I sent you is still the closest to stock.
Left is new, factory is in the middle and what sent you on the right.
Out door sun and shade to show the difference.
Maybe you can mist what sent you with a candy to get it closer?
Posted 29 August 2020 - 09:14 PM
Martin, I was surfing internet images of various Renegades today.
There is no exactly correct shade of baby blue. All three shades you show look fine to me
I refuse to say I like any one more than the others. The man to ask is Rotorranch

Make the call Jeff.
I can send the new stuff out Monday if that's your pick?
Its a little tricky because it does not have a backing. I will stick it to a sheet of PETG.
Posted 30 August 2020 - 04:35 PM
Obviously, I like the one in the middle!
But I think the stuff on the right of the pic is closer. The stuff on the left is too bright I think.
But who knows?
Thanks again Martin!!!
Rotor

The bright stuff might "Pop" better on the rootbeer metallic. I dunno, what do y'all think?
Rotor

I like them all. Why don't we shoot for middle of the road?

Details complete. I think they turned out nice, except for one major flaw.
I failed to match the original - the mix wasn't dark enough.
So Rotor and I decided, these two are now mine. I'll offer them for sale right here and now for $20 apiece, that includes Slotblog's 5% and shipping to continental USA. Send me a PM if interested. If they don't sell, they go into my vintage box of body horrors, to be made into complete cars in the future. Either way, I've lost nothing.
A new pair of Gene/ZR1 Renegades are en-route. This time I'll add an extra dot of orange and black

You got to be happy with that.

Tamiya NATO black paint on the air scoops, and all trimming complete. The Gene/ZR1 mold lines make things easy
"I like big butts, and I cannot lie"
Next step, Martin's #45 meatballs, Auto Club emblems, and baby blue racing stripes attached with double sided wing car tape
