Since you asked.....

Yeah it weight reduction but the aero dynamics would make it slower now

And amusingly:

It's a Holekswagen.

Oh these are speed holes, they make the car go faster

It's the Apple Mac Pro Car

but can ya grate cheese wi' it?

This way you can save on hot water - just stay in the car when it goes into a car wash.

Crocks-wagon.

Glory hole car

And just for you, Mike: Swiss car

I meant before and after weights.

If the car was traveling at very low speeds, I wonder if mileage would be better.

Probably not. Those large holes will create turbulence. Over the past several years some universities, most notably  Cal Tech, have been doing research into adding very small holes to the skin of aircraft wings which will bleed air into the boundary layer. The purpose is to reduce turbulence in low pressure areas that can create drag and reduce lift. There have already been some good results showing reduced stall speeds allowing the plane to continue flying at a slower airspeed if it looses some power.

Not a car per se, but a sculpture by a Finnish artist. Touring Helsinki & appears to be a VW Bora.

I meant something real low, like 5 MPH.

IOW, at what speed does turbulence come into play?

Now that I asked, I really don't care that much. Lol

In the U.S., we call that car a Jetta.

IMO, not real creative, but still impressive on the effort to cut that many holes, apparently evenly spaced.

IOW, it's not a butcher job.

FWIW, my friends say that turbulence starts to have a noticeable effect at 30mph, and by 40 it starts to become a noticeable drag factor, going up by the square of the speed.

(i used to test my slotcar bodies under the water faucet to see how the air flowed and attached. it worked.)

Speedy2

(what a drag it is growing up..)
