Just got a 1962 Strombecker track. After a little fiddling I got it working and now it works like a charm. Here are a few pics.

It's how we call got started back in the day. What a beautiful memory that track just conjured up for me...
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Issaac, now you could build yourself some cars. For ideas, you could look at John Kit's "Scale Car Garage" YouTube channel. John uses some low powered FF-030 motors in brass chassis he builds. One could also use glued plastic or popsicle sticks. Both materials have been used successfully.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Belated "Greetings and Welcome" Issac!
That is a wonderful find!
Does your new track accommodate 1/24 scale cars?
Did it come with any cars?
Thank you.

It came with the two original cars and no it does not accept 1/24. It really was a good find I bought it for $25 and was able to pick it up as it was only 30 minutes from my house.

Strombecker track has 1/32 scale lane spacing and 1/43 and 1/32 modern cars can run on it. The slot depth is quite shallow for all modern cars and the flag may need to be filed down on some brands. Older Revell is better for 1/24 scale cars and modern Carrera is best for home layouts for club racing.
A bit of elbow grease with WD-40 and Scotchbrite will clean up the corrosion on those aluminum rails.

The rails are actually very shiny, (used some 800 sandpaper) I think the lighting is just bad.
