In the late 60's, many of the top International Formula One racers, made their way to New Zealand and Australia for their summer break and raced in the old Tasman Series.
Wigram was an old airfield in Christchurch where I gre up.
On the Friday night before the Wigram race, I was hanging out at one of the old commercial raceways, when someone said "hey look, their is Graham Hill over there".
To my amazement, some of the world's best F1 racers had dropped in to my raceway for a break. Included in the group, were if my memory serves me right, were Chris Amon, Jochen Rindt, Piers Courage, Derek Bell and Graham Hill, as well as some of the local racers.
Of course, some of them wanted a "play" with our slot cars
