I just got a new JK C70 Dragstar II chassis, and the motor mount doesn't fit the chassis rails... It doesn't reach the frame rails.
Any one else run across this issue?
Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
Sorry for the trouble. When the manufacturer packed the chassis, he stacked them together too tightly and this spread out the uprights so they're not at 90 degrees. If you bend them in a bit, the bracket should fit fine and the uprights will be at 90 degrees.

So I'm supposed to squish the chassis???

Come on, Jeff. That's an easy fix for an experienced builder like yourself.

No... I'm done with this POS! The more I tried, the worse the thing gets. Not to mention the guide flag hole is off-center on the guide tongue. And probably the worst tongue coining ever!
That was a waste of $26.00.

Jeff,
Did you let Tim kniow you were having a problem? If not, poo on you. You really ought to have given the man a chance to make it right before bitching in public. At least IMO.

Send it to Pablo. He'll build it for you.

Bill - heck no don't send it here, - I have plenty of normal challenges, like dropping small parts on the floor, not being able to find tools right in front of me, etc. LOL
The correct thing to do is, delete the thread, send the chassis back to JK, calmly explain the problems and ask for a refund or replacement. Then if you don't get satisfaction, restart the thread and flame on. But I'm sure you won't need to do that. The owner is a reasonable man.

I would have tried Tim's suggestion in post #4. It could work, if it doesn't, then sent the chassis westward.

I agree with Pablo. Only fair to give Tim a chance to correct the problem before pdissin' a stand up supplier to our ever shrinking hobby.
My two cents worth...

See post 4 above.
I emailed him, and received no reply, so I started this thread to see if there were any other folks that have had this problem.
I'm not dissing JK at all, and that was never my intention. I own probably a dozen or more JK cars, and am pleased with all of them, except this one. I did as try to tweak as was suggested, but then the bottom bent. Straighten the bottom, and the sides are tweaked again. After about an hour, I gave up. The metal seems soft on it as well. Maybe I just got a bad one???
In the end, it doesn't matter. That chassis is pretty much junk after trying to get it right. There isn't a straight, flat part on it!

Yeah, there's a lot more meat where the bends are than there is in the center of the bottom.
So you would assume when it was originally stack-packed in China, it would have bent the center of the bottom, not the bends. Sounds like the bends were never bent enough to begin with. A manufacturing error.

I still think Tim (JK) will replace it if you contact them Direct since they knew of the problem and their fix didn't work and you might ask Cheater to remove this

Jason, I sent 2 messages using the customer service link on the website. No response.
I could fix it easily, IF I had a sheet metal brake. Or at least made it better. It's so screwed up now I'd be embarrassed to return the piece of junk.

Once I got the mount to fit, the sides are angled in way over 90 degrees! I don't think I'm going to waste any more time on this chassis... I have a couple of Parma chassis on the way now.

Jeff I'm surprised Tim didn't offer to replace the chassis. Even if he thought you did something wrong and it was completely your fault, it would have been better to send you a new chassis from the get-go and avoided this long, ongoing thread of bad PR.
