When you say "RETRO," do you mean using Hershman's RETRO rules?

I have no idea what Hershman's RETRO rules are.

The rules will mirror IRRA like they run in Florida.

I think Tex's confusion was based on the all capital posts.

I changed them (leaving them bold).

Regardless of confusion, or not, Cheater doesn't allow all caps posting.

Hey Tony:

Here in Florida (GRRR) we run the exact IRRA rulesset with no changes whatsoever. It sure makes it a lot easier to not have any deviations so everyone can be on the same equal ground.

By saying "mirror" did you have any changes in mind or were you thinking to use the IRRA ruleset as is?

Bad pick of tracks for car classes if you are expecting a turnout from racers other than from the south.

"More details to come"? Specific rules should be announced at the same time as the race announcement.
Otherwise, it's obvious you are planning to make the rules up as you go.

"National Championship"? Really?

Really good question

This is not an IRRA event but we will go by the IRRA rulebook same as used at the Retro Rumble last month in Florida.

I was not trying to be cryptic about the rules for the four classes.

When I stated more details to come, we intend to do some other cool stuff including maybe a fifth race on the Friday night before the weekend that may introduce a class of cars not raced before.

Great, looking forward to doing some Retro racing. I've been racing 1/32 slot cars for a few years and I've only been racing 1/24 flexi for 10 months and now I'm ready to try my hand at Retro...

IMO the Engleman will be a nice change of pace for Retro racing. I haven't run on the one at the Viper Pit, but if it is like the one at Upstate, it should be great for Retro racing.

I'm new to Retro racing and I was wondering what was meant by The Viper Pit not being a good choice of tracks for the class of cars being run...

I have to check my calender but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make this race.

I've had a lot of good times racing there.

Too bad the Daytona replica track isn't up yet. It's been a while so I'm sure I forgot how to drive on it by now. 😉

People want to run on a King track. King track races always get the most entries. The exception is SpeedZone for fall brawl, but their 220’ Engleman is one of the best tracks in the country and they run a top-notch race.

I’d run Can-Am and F1 on the king, GTC on orange, and the Engleman Stock Car. The Engleman and oOange could be swapped.

All,

I'm thinking about traveling from East Texas for the Nats.

I have not raced on any of those track configurations. So, as to rules, will the motors be as in the 2020 IRRA motors doc? If so, does anyone have a suggested gear ratio recommendation for each track running the JK Hawk 7 class motor please?

I'll need to get some test gear. I've got chassis for each class, just need to setup and test with the rules acceptable motors.

Thanks!

Scott

I agree Tony having run the tracks at the Fall Brawl over the years

Mike’s Speedzone Engleman is one of the best

Scott H:

Just to be clear the JK Hawk "7" motor is not a legal motor for IRRA racing.  Although the 2020 rule set does show several legal motors virtually 100% of the racers use the JK Hawk "Retro" motor.  Gearing is almost always 9/27 or 9/28 but you will have to test a bit to find out which one is best for your car/motor combination.  This can also be influenced by which track you are racing on.  Generally speaking 9/27 for longer tracks (higher top speed) and 9/28 for shorter tracks (better punch and brakes).  26 and 29 tooth crown gears can be used but I think you'll find a 27 or 28 is what will be best.
