Known as the asymmetrical chassis. Can you show the rear wheels and knock offs in detail. Typically the pinions gears are bad !

Gary are these wheels original for this car? If your interested in the knock offs on the front I have extras I would sell.
Thanks Carter

The car would have had a wire clip, not screws.

This is a Revell body (Ford GT-40 Roadster) but I thought it would have been factory painted, like this below. Did they come RTR with clear bodies on the asymmetrical chassis?

Thanks for the photos of the wheels and knock offs. They are Revell , not sure of the name of yours but the 8 spoke are called Cobra .I had some packaged , which I put on my Revell Cobra but I don'.t think they were ever used on a real Cobra. I have some front knock offs somewhere but wondered if those were used on the rear too, which would be hard since they are a blind hole. Now I see the rears are tapped through.

Martin,

I had an RTR version of the Genie with the early asymmetrical chassis (brass & piano wire) and there the body was clear. I know they did kits of these later cars with clear bodies, but not sure about the RTR versions. Don't have my kit anymore, so can't check on original knockoffs... hmm, just found a built-up Genie with the earlier chassis and it's also got the blind knockoffs on the front and regular ones on the back, so I guess that's original - and an addity from Revell!

Martin can you tell me where I can get some wire clips or do you make them?
Thanks Carter

The rear knock offs are not original, they should be the same as the fronts.  Those unpainted bodies came as an rtr in a display box that came in a box with the base extending up both ends with a clear plastic lid.   The painted cars came  with the car setting on the base and a clear lid.

You can get piano wire at Ace Hardware and bend you own clips.  The screw holes will probably make clips unsatisfactory.  Might as well just use some #2 pan head screws.

Hi Matt, I thought the knockoffs should be the same too. But when I searched I found the rear knock offs are open and only the fronts are closed.

Every pic of original cars was this way.

Carter, this is the pic of the wire clips I measured for comparison. Maybe someone can add the dimensions of other wire clips?
