Stock Cars on the Figure 8 – 11/17/20
This Tuesday saw Stock Cars on the Figure 8 for the second time in two months at MVH. Another field of seven racers ran in the 4/4 format, switching from the outside lanes to the inside at the midpoint of the race.
Stock Cars in Tech:
John Weaver had the fastest car on the evening with Nate Bemis the only other driver within striking distance time-wise, but Tom Smith and Bob “Woody” Hazelwood were putting more laps on the counter than Nate. By the change to the inside lanes, Weaver had logged 202 laps for a 12-lap lead over Tom and Woody who were tied at 190. Nate was all alone in 4th at 184 laps. Chris Cassidy and Richard Payne were in another tie for 5th with 179 laps each while Tom Stickney closed out the field at 159.
When time ran out, Weaver had increased his lead to 28 laps as the tie between Tom and Woody was resolved in Tom’s favor, though Woody did hang on to take the bottom step on the podium. Nate stayed in 4th place. The tie for 5th was also resolved, in this instance in Chris’s favor.
Weaver’s 3.398 was the fastest lap of the evening. Even though the two ties were broken in terms of laps, Tom and Woody ended up with identical 3.570 lap times and Chris and Richard also finished with identical 3.618 lap times.
