when I resumed racing in late 1983 I ran into a bit of trouble with the rules regarding classes. In the 60's and early 70's I was deemed pro in AZ USRA races and semi-pro in LA usra races, there were times though when my motors were overwhelming and I got moved up on a by race basis. but in 1983 I was raising a family and a wife who hated slot cars so I stuck with box stock and I-15 just to race. unfortunately some of the guys raised issues with a former pro or semi-pro running box stock or I-15. I attempted to set up a 27 and open program which as you know takes money and a lot of time, well my wife threw a fit over the time it took away from family. Some of the guys were willing to let me come down in class just to let me race, I promised that if I ever out powered the field I'd blackflag myself. as it turned out I was almost always slowest qualifier and almost always in the top three. the rules came out again and I had to move up again. after a couple of races where I did not make move ups into the main I was told by the then usra socal pres and another friend from socal that my lap tabulations were being manipulated by a track owner. with all that going on I gave it up in1992 about two weeks before the third daughter was born. I now have four kids all university educated, a new vehicle a paid off house and want to race slots again but cannot go to socal to race with all the lock-downs etc. won't one of your tracks migrate to AZ? please, we hace a reasonable pandemic policy in place and if the rules let me race I'm ready.
