Very cool. Maybe pro? Hinsdale sticker, ARCO Nationals sticker, Mura Sticker and more. Dave Bloom Bodies (he raced at Hinsdale I think) Ferret chassis, Champion Chassis and more. If I had money I would try to get this one.  :laugh2: Who's is it?

Probably just a fairly serious West Suburban slot racer.

If the racer was a Pro, he would most likely have a Russkit style controller, maybe a Kesser double micro.

With the Bloom bodies, it will most likely get bid up fairly high.

The seller, a family owned, long time, real nice area hobby shop, most likely took the box in trade, possibly for some train parts.

About 20 years, I helped one of the owners with a residential move, the connection being, myself a casual friend of his brother, who was not involved in the business.

PS-root beer must of been a popular production color for Bloom. An area guy, and ex-Hinsdale racer has one, the same color.

Beautiful condition on that box. Looks like a Hoffman but no sticker or stamp inside though. Too bad the seller did not turn the cars over or even clean out the pack of gum! :)

Probably a typical weekend racer carrying case.

The box appears to be a Hoffman. I must say I haven't seen one in such pristine condition in this day and age.  Almost like new. Current bid is $44 which seems to be a steal.

Mike, agreed. If he had a few more pictures than it could go for much more.

Mike Swiss, good information. The controller does make sense.

Thanks everyone.

$416.54

I thought it might go higher.

I bet I know who got it.

I bid early just so I would get notifications on it.

Higher?

Wow, I was thinking maybe 300 but a good box is worth $150 these days so maybe that's right.

There are cars under the bodies.

The pedigree of those cars raises the price quite a bit.

I still have mine from the mid 1960's. Not quite do pristine, from Grells Raceway in Buffalo (Williamsville NY)

Dave do you mean a Hoffman box or some Dave Bloom painted cars?    The Bloom cars were the big part of this auction.

I bought this db body which is very similar to the one in the box. I assume Dave did a few like this.

That was interesting following the bidding. I hope the new owner enjoys having it.

Looks like a Ferret chassis under the db Marcos Mantis body, I like the nickle Champion frame too.

In some of the other pics, there looks like there might be a loose Mura 2 hole can motor under the Marcos.

In the right compartment, is that an American Raceways patch?

Are those common?

You are correct about the patch. I have seen decals but never seen a sew on patch.

I have an 100% identical box, which has a silver Hoffman sticker on the top left side of the top lid. Also the lid is stamped "Hoffman no.1600" on the inside.

The box on ebay is much cleaner than mine and maybe never ?  but materials and all is identical, so this is 100% certain a Hoffman box.

It is a Hoffman and the new owner is  happy to have this stuff, I'm sure.
