Vintage Motorsport magazine has a section called "Auction Action" where it reviews race cars and other things motoring that have sold at auctions.
This month (Jan/Feb) had a spotlight on a slot car track. This Slot Mods track attracted "scores of bids and comments." The layout is inspired by Virginia International Raceway.
The reported winning bid was $65,500.
1/32 scale basement racing must be bigger than we've been thinking. (LOL.)

At $65,500, that was a bargain. According to the Slot Mods website FAQ, a "basic" setup is around $50K, with "custom" tracks starting at $75K!
They make museum-quality tracks, with full scenery realistic to the actual tracks they are modeled after. Most of them go to dealers, or companies that use them at trade displays. Just a bit rich for my budget, though!

and MOST commercial used tracks and significantly undervalued compared to their original purchase price to make one.
