Hey guys, I'm laying out some parts in CAD, and don't have a loose motor here to measure from.. Does anyone know or have the prints for a typical motor mounting hole pattern?  Screw hole size, spacing and center hole size.  Typical sealed/Hawk style motor..  I'll take one out from a car, but figured I'd ask here first.  Perhaps someone has the info or link to a print. .?

Will of course share my project here once I have something to share!

Thanks in advance.

I'm uncertain of the provenance of this.

Steve, that drawing came from Mabuchi. They have made millions of these motors over the years. It won't need and double-checking, :laugh2:  :laugh2:  :laugh2:

I like to think in inches & fractions there of. I mark the center of where I want the bearing/ bushing hole & drill it out to 1/4". I also mark 1/4" .left & right from the bearing/bushing hole center. These two marks are the center or your horizontal motor mounting screws. I drill these two marks 3/32". The three holes are several thousands larger than the metric dimensions  shown above. But some people will like to use 2-56 machine screws rather than M2.0 metric screws for mounting the motor. The 2-56 screw requires a larger clearance hole than the M2.0/ I would suggest you make a motor mounting template from clear plastic using either the metric dimensions, those i gave in inches. or try both to see what you like. An ultra fine Sharpie or other permanent marker is good for marking the hole centers.

Bill, I'm not as well versed in the world of Mabuchi as some..   It does make 1000% sense that the fk/hawk/etc motors are clones of one of the most prolific patterns made.  Ill bet on that.

But still, I'll layout according to the numbers above then do a print out and give a visual check.  that should get me there.

This is for a summercamp STEM workshop idea that hopefully I can pull off this summer. . .

and vertical hole pattern will follow that the lower center hole can be mirrored on the upper part of the pattern.  Screw sizes used are either 2mm or #4-40..either way at least a 3/32" clearance for either screw.
