Interesting. I guess I would have to consider this one of those "I did it because I can" projects. Otherwise, I don't see a purpose for it. It looks to need about the same flying area as a 40 size R/C plane would need. You can't see it well while in flight. I went the other way. The more I got into R/C planes, the bigger I went. Up to quarter-size planes. To me, the closer they are to the real thing, the better.
Just as a side note, I chortled when they brought out Z-guage model trains. I tried N-scale, but went back to HO. Eventually I ended up with O-scale. I did some modeling in G-scale, but at the time there wasn't much available in American style models.

wow.. amazing work. and in 2013 to boot. It's only 7 years ago, but the availability of everything hobby related has increased greatly. Not saying that doing it today would be easy though, this guy definitely put some time and effort in!!
Would love to see the internals.

R/C aircraft have come a long way in the past 20 years. Electric versions are now the big sellers, and every bit as exciting to fly for most people. Obviously they take less room to fly than what I did. And are quiet, another big plus. You had to belong to a flying club to get use of their field. The new generation can be flown in a school yard, much as we did with the U-line planes. The down side of the smaller planes is that they don't have the detail that the big planes have. Very important to me.
I think I have shown these before, but just as a refresher, I'll show a couple again. These all have working scale engines proper to the real plane.

I think this is very cool because of the size! Another neat plane I saw was a Jet F-15 flying done at Mile Square Park in Orange County..... This is very cool!
