Came across this. Not on-track video, but this guy is a bit off plumb to be driving that car at speed through traffic.

This popped up after the above video. It is a bit long, but really exemplifies what the entire vintage racing experience is like. There is a surprise at about 5:00. And the scenes of them pulling into the final destination brings back memories for me of the tour into Elkhart Lake, Wis., on Friday night. Crowds of people lining the streets, waving and getting excited at the arrival of the race cars.

These vintage racing events are spectacular. Every gearhead should have the opportunity to, if not drive, at least ride in one of these cars. Granted, they don't have the speed or comfort of today's hypercars, but it is the perception of speed that is so intoxicating. I can get every bit as much fun out of driving an MG TC balls out on a track as I can driving a Can-Am car.
A secondary thrill is seeing the appreciation the fans have for the cars. They are the stars of the show. And having the chance to be caretaker of some of them, if only a for a short space in time. They will be around long after I am gone.
