Very nice, you have a very steady hand to paint those tiny taillights!

Sharp looking Vette Miguel ! Isaac likes your taillights, I like your silver window trim. It's very neatly done. I built a lot of model car kits 55-60 years ago. Painting their window trim could be brutal. Do you have a club or home track to run your Vette on?

Back in about 1964 I built this car on that type chassis and did fairly well with it. Of course, the lighter butyrate body helped a lot. The chassis came from a promotional James Bond Aston-Martin that a gas station franchise was giving away. My Dad got one and gave it to my younger brother, who had no interest in cars but was doing the secret agent action figure (spelled d-o-l-l-s) thing. I traded a working scale model of a cannon for it, which he used to pepper the aluminum siding of the house behind ours with BBs. My folks ended up paying to replace the dimpled siding.
I put urathane tires on the rear and ran it with a home racer group for a short time. Most of their tracks were routed plywood, but the car ran very well on plastic sectional track as well. Some day I'll change back to the rubber tires like were on it originally.

Ernie; You were looking for photos of our plastic track layouts. This is all I have of one of the two that were in the homeset group I used to belong to. It is all Carerra track, four lanes, Track Mate timing, and Professor Motor controllers. We ran 1/32nd scale plastic cars, Demon chassis with hard plastic bodies, scratch built 1/32nd hot rods, 1/24th hard bodies on H&R chassis, 1/24th Kurtis Kraft sprint cars with resin bodies and chassis I stamped out, Kurtis Kraft and Watson Indy cars with resin bodies and lengthened versions of the sprint car chassis. We didn't use chassis magnets on any of the classes.
There was one other plastic track in the group, also a four lane Carerra track. All the other tracks were routed MDF.

Hi Dave,
That's very gracious of you to share those photos.
Very nice tracks!
How did you like running on the Carrera track please?
What type of tires did you use for traction?
Thanks for sharing Dave!

We used mostly PPR urethanes in the rear. Being a plastic "snap track", the turns were tight, but not as tight as the Ninco and Scalectric tracks. And the lane spacing is much wider, making it possible to run scale 1/24th cars as well.
