I came across this McLaren 2B F1 car on Facebook page.  It's from the 1969 Spanish Grand Prix with Vic Elford driving it.

It could be an interesting body for F1 retro with the rear and front wings  Not sure how it would conform to the max width rule with those saddle tanks, but I guess it's all relative

A rare car for sure. I did find this about the car...

The M2A was sold on to be used by various private racers in the United Kingdom before being destroyed by fire in 1969.[Sources suggest that three M2B chassis were similarly sold on; one is awaiting restoration in the United States and another is currently on display at the Donington Grand Prix Exhibition.

So, not sure what your rules are but I would think the pic you show is of a "one off" from a privateer.

It's a McLaren 7C car - As far as I remember it is Customer version of the M7A with additional side tanks.

The reference on the original photo had McLaren 2B.  Perhaps it was misidentified or I transcribed the number incorrectly.

A Google search of McLaren 7C came up with this image. It has the saddle tanks.

Can't see that well but it looks like a tank on one side only?

The #2 car in the second photo above (in a museum) appears as though it might have the Ford Indy V-8 from the mid-60s. I am not aware of any other V-8 engines that had the intake ports in the center of the top of the heads (intake stacks poking out at an angle to the side) and the exhaust ports in the center valley side of the heads where the intakes are on most "V" engines. I am not aware that there was ever a McLaren Indy entry. This is an interesting specimen.

A design description of the Ford Indy V-8 indicated that while the intake ports in the center of the head gave a very short, straight path to the intake valve, the exhaust ports exiting on the valley side of the heads compromised the exhaust runners somewhat and placed the headers in a very constricted space where achieving an equal, tuned length of free-flowing exhaust was made difficult. The compromises in the design proved not to yield an advantage, and this layout was not repeated.

Mclaren did try the Ford Indy engine in F1 at the start of the 3 liter era.

Correct, Tony.

A.J.Foyt also built an engine with that intake arrangement, and that was used in his Indy program.

totally fearless. some didnt wear a safety harness. they prefer to be ejected/tossed from the wreck than be trapped inside and burned alive. amazing.

I think you will find the car is a McLaren M7B which was a one-off conversion of the M7A.
