I haven't been here for while, but I've been building.
I just about finished up this Lindberg/Cox conglomeration. All these parts have been growing dust for a long time so I recently combined them all.
Here's the rundown. The body is a 1965 Lindberg McLaren Elva. The frame is a 1/32 Cox made for the 13D motor. A little adjustment was needed to fit a 16D rewind. It has fresh magnets and the arm is .7 ohm. I've tested it on 6 & 8 volts, and it's a bit hot (literally). I re-bent a Chaparral 36D motor clip to secure it. A long 1/24 Cox swing arm and a 4.5 gram weight was fit. The body didn't have the correct mounting points, so they were removed and new ones built. I don't really like the Cox front "suspension" piece as it has too much clearance for the axle and it flops around. I fitted a brass tube through it and it now runs smooth. It needed to be extended to fit the wheel base.
The body was missing the spare tire, tail pipes, tail lights, and head lights and lens. For the wheels I used a set from the Cox Ferrari F1. I spent some time cutting out the cast flashing from between the spokes to define them, polishing and clear coating them. The tires were ground down a bit for the right ground clearance and body fit. For the spare tire I used another Ferrari wheel and tire, It was sliced in two and bonded together to make room for the frame. It was attached to a thin clear plastic piece to mount it. The tail lights are 3mm LEDs that I pulled out of a broken phone. The pipes are short pieces of aluminum tube glued into a thin brass strap that was epoxied to the inside of the rear body. Some small screen pieces I got from Professor Motor years ago were added to the back deck. I'm not happy with the headlights. They are small nail heads that sort of fit. they are painted silver.
The body paint is Testors Pure Gold, and the stripes are Tamiya Pure White. There was a lot of other building steps, but you get the idea.
Cheers.
