I had an order for three cars, a Lotus 33 (Hill), Honda RA273 (Surtees), and a 1967 Ferrari 312 (Amon), all with driver/numbers from the 1967 Monaco race.

I added two more for my own pleasure and intended for future sale, a McLaren M7A and a 1966 Ferrari 312. :-)

Here are some pics:

Specifications are as usual: Fox10 25K motor, 15mm wheels, 8mm front and 16mm rear, hard foam front tyres and medium foam rear, 3mm axles, Sigma 10/30 gears.

Driver, wheels inserts, decals, and chassis are homemade.

The 1966 Ferrari, Gurney Eagle, and the McLaren are for sale  SOLD!

Niels, I like how your display backgrounds often appear to look like drift wood. Perhaps they are. The cars are up to your usual high standards, also.

Those are gorgeous Niels and as Bill pointed out, up to your usual impeccable standards! And you've inspired me ... I found an original Lancer RA273 in a lot of bodies I bought at Buzzy's. Time to fire up the Hakko...

The background is an old bench and table, that were on the ground when I took over the house in 2017. The table was no good, so I restored it using wood I found in the deep growth out there. I think they sometime were used for a sand box for the children to play in.  The bench is not safe anymore, so I have to to something about it as a love both pieces :-)

Hi Niels, great cars as expected.

Quick question. I have a Honda that would look better with pipes, where did you find yours, or did you fab them ?

I did find  but a little pricey just to get the pipes.

The manifold part of the pipes was molded in the body, I just had to add the two tubes :-)

Martin, how about using paint brush ferrules? Turn their seams towards the body. Or, use brass rod & turn tapers, then drill out the centers.

Thanks Bill, I have used paint brush ferrules plenty on other cars. But on this Honda it will not work. I am looking to make a 3 into 1 X 2.

Like these on Niels Honda's.

Here's a very good R&T video of Dario Franchitti driving Ginther's RA 272, with some commentary about how it drives.

https://youtu.be/ZhLPeYAO-cs

And a drawing of an earlier version. Somewhere I have the drawings of the innerds, just don't know exactly where those are right now. Just in case someone wants to go crazy with suspension detail, etc.

Not sure if you are joking John, maybe you are thinking of Pete Aron (James Garner) from Grand Prix?

Dave, thanks for the drawing. Is that a more accurate way to do the exhaust pipes? If I am going to bend tube I might as well get it correct.

Looking deeper into it the 272 and the 271 have different rear covers and I am trying to find a good pic of the pipes of the 271.

Niels cars are 271 as is mine.

yes, martin. a little joke. still a great project and a historical car whether pete arons or james garner are driving. in my opinion, "grand prix" was one of the best filmed racing movies of all time.

Martin; The design of the pipes changed over the development of the sidewinder V-12s. along with other small details. The constant is that the pipes from the rear bank of cylinders exited from the top of the body, the pipes from the forward bank ran under the chassis. To be 100% correct, you need to use a photo from a specific event and copy that.
